Order of Operations, Divide By Multiples of 10 Division, and With 2-Digit Divisors

- Use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and
evaluate expressions with these symbols.
- Write simple expressions that record calculations with numbers, and
interpret numerical expressions without evaluating them.
- Explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying
a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the
decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10.
Use whole-number exponents to denote powers of 10.

VOCABULARY:
​
1. Equation: A number sentence with an equal sign. The amount on one side of the equal sign
has the same value as the amount on the other side.
2. Decimal: the expression of a fraction in the base of ten, using a decimal point to separate
whole numbers from the fractional value.
3. Decimal Point: A printed or written dot in a decimal number that divides the whole numbers
from the tenths, hundredths, and smaller divisions of ten.
4. Thousandth: One out of one thousand equal parts; the position of the third digit to the right of
the decimal point.
5. Hundredth One out of one hundred equal parts; the position of the second digit to the right of
the decimal point.
6. Difference: The result when one number is subtracted from another.
7. Sum The answer to an addition problem
8. Dividend: The number that is divided by another number in a division operation.
9. Divisor: The quantity by which another quantity is to be divided.
10. Hundredth: One out of one hundred equal parts; the position of the second digit to the right of
the decimal point.
11. Order of Operations: A rule used to clarify which procedure should be performed first in a given
mathematical expression.
12. Quotient: The answer to a division problem.
13. Remainder: The amount left over after division when one divisor does not divide the dividend
exactly.
